Housenumbers Limited is a family run e-commerce business based in Dorset.

The company was established in 2005 by Katherine & Charles Ellis, after their family failed to find a house number they loved for a new house extension. Our circular number, which now forms part of our logo, was admired by friends and neighbours to such an extent that the business just took off from word of mouth recommendations. It is now run day to day by daughter Josie and workshop manager Rian, with Katherine and Charles still on board, plus their small and dedicated team.

Managing Director Josie keeps the place running day to day, looks after our corporate customers, finances, website & marketing.

Director & founder Charles designs all of our products, & is our CAD & electronics expert. 

Director & founder Katherine assists during busy periods and helps with accounting.

Rian joined the team in 2023 as an assistant, and was soon promoted to be our workshop manager. Rian organises our workshop schedule and the manufacture of our bespoke signs, plus works on the technical design of new products with Charles.

Becky is our workshop assistant, and helps with the manufacture of our products. She can also found in our order packing & dispatch room, assisting with shipping orders. 

Sarah is our packing and dispatch assistant, and newest team member, who makes sure that each order is perfectly packaged and meets our high quality control standards. 

Gary is our expert metal worker who hand finishes all our stainless steel orders.

And finally Margot the family dog, who is often on site to welcome our postman and couriers!

We believe in supporting British jobs and manufacturing, which is why all our products are designed and hand finished in-house, after being laser cut here in the UK! We also believe in offering outstanding customer care and every order is important to us, from each online retail order to large scale corporate orders for new-build estates, and every beautiful bespoke sign in between; we will make sure you are delivered a high quality service and product. We have always manufactured here in Dorset, and use a handful of other UK based suppliers from up and down the country, our new workshop and office are located in Sixpenny Handley Dorset.

The primary part of our manufacturing process is laser cutting, and we have British based stainless-steel suppliers who cut our metal parts for us on state-of-the-art laser cutters. We also have our own laser cutter for all our acrylic products which are made entirely in house. We have been operating a waiting list for our beautiful custom items for the last 10 years due to popular demand.

When a bespoke house name arrives on site after laser cutting, we hand finish the item using our finishing tools to make sure that the surface is flawless, and to remove any metal burs from the edges and letters meaning there is no chance of sharp edges. We then use our welding tools to add welded fixings. Our metal fixing systems are unique to Housenumbers Limited - you can't buy them off the shelf anywhere else! We have a variety of spot-welded fixings which are selected based on the type of material you are fixing into, such as wood, brick or cladding.

Finally, some of the stainless-steel house names will be taken to our local powder coaters in a nearby town for matt or gloss custom coloured finishes to be added. The most popular are black and anthracite grey, but you can give us a custom RAL number if you are trying to match an architectural feature on your home!

We source quality LED modules and IP rated hardwire drivers from our long term trusted suppliers in China, who quality control check every item to ensure the highest electrical standards are met. We allocate every electrical order to a batch number to ensure that we can always trace your order details, and that replacement parts can be supplied to you further down the line when needed in exactly the same spec. 

Our workshop team operate in a stunning converted barn that houses our laser cutter, welding bay, finishing benches and stock, with an equally lovely office space for our admin and packing team to process and dispatch your orders. We dispatch using Royal Mail for most of our orders and DHL for our bespoke signs.
